TACOMA, Wash. – Sitting in first place in the Northwest Conference standings, the defending league champion Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team heads across town on Wednesday to renew the Battle of the South Sound against the University of Puget Sound. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
The Lutes (12-2, 9-1 NWC) look to sweep the season series against the Tacoma rivals after downing the Loggers 1-0 in double overtime back on Sept. 20 with Leah Magee providing the game-winner in the 105th minute.
PLU has been red hot against Puget Sound this fall across all sports, also collecting wins over the Loggers in football (23-13 on Sept. 30), volleyball (3-0 on Oct. 4), and men's soccer (1-0 in double overtime on Oct. 7).
Wednesday's clash is the final Battle of the South Sound game this month with the series renewing on Wednesday, Nov. 1 on the volleyball court with a 7 p.m. start inside Olson Gymnasium while the Loggers host the Lutes in men's soccer at noon on Saturday, Nov. 4.
PLU finished with the upper hand in 2016-2017, owning a 15-9-1 record against the Loggers across all sports in Northwest Conference play.
