PLU Athletics hosts the 2015 Youth Sports Clinic
PARKLAND - PLU Athletics hosted its 3rd Annual Youth Sports Clinic on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Over 80 youth from the surrounding PLU community joined Lute student-athletes for a full morning of fun. The campers rotated through six different sport stations which featured basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball/softball, football and a fitness/agility station. The clinic concluded with a presentation from student-athletes on competing at the collegiate level and living a healthy, active lifestyle. PLU campus community celebrates the Drive to 125
PARKLAND – On Friday, April 10, PLU Athletics hosted a celebration on Red Square to commemorate the department’s achievement of its ‘Drive to 125’. Over 750 students, faculty and staff joined in the campus gathering that included free cupcakes, cookies and PLU Athletics’ giveaways. LASR (Lute Air Student Radio) provided music while PLU’s mascot Lancelute greeted attendees and prompted a dance party.

PARKLAND -- More than 30 Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes worked together to host the third-annual Special Olympics basketball clinic on January 10 at PLU’s Olson and Memorial Gymnasiums. The clinic served as part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s (SAAC) community outreach efforts supporting the partnership formed between Special Olympics and NCAA Div. III with the goal of fostering a mutual learning experience between the intercollegiate student-athletes and the Special Olympics athletes.

PARKLAND –Recently, Pacific Lutheran’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) joined the You Can Play movement with the release of a video featuring PLU student-athletes and their positive stance on inclusion regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. The You Can Play project is a nationwide initiative dedicated to ensuring equality and respect for all athletes without regard to sexual orientation. The Pacific Lutheran women's ultimate frisbee team won the first-ever Ultimate Players Association (UPA) Division III College Ultimate Championships on Sunday, defeating Swarthmore College, 11-8, in Appleton, Wis.
