Hoffman Honored as NWC Baseball Player of the Week
Jacob Hoffman had a big weekend for Pacific Lutheran as the Lutes swept the Puget Sound Loggers in a three-game baseball series, and as a result the Northwest Conference has honored Hoffman as a Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hoffman, a sophomore from University Place, hit .571 (8-for-14) against the Loggers with four doubles, all of which drove in at least one run, and he collected a total of seven RBI during the series.
He is the second Lute player to be named Student-Athlete Baseball Player of the Week, joining Brock Gates, who received the award for games from March 5-11.
Pacific Lutheran has a week off from conference play but not from competition, as it travels to Orange, Calif., this coming weekend for a four-game series against NcAA Division III runnerup Chapman. The teams play single games on Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
