TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University baseball team made it to the halfway point against the Puget Sound Loggers, but rain put an end to their game with the score tied at 2-2.
The crosstown rivals locked up at Cheney Stadium for a nonconference game on Tuesday night. The Lutes trailed 2-0 coming into the top of the fifth inning. Jacob Clements led off the inning with a walk. Later in the inning, Ben Welch blasted a single up the middle. Anthony Gosline got a hit, loading the bases. Kory VanderStaay came to the plate with two outs. VanderStaay ripped a double down the left field line, bringing in two runs.
Before the Lutes could play defense in the bottom half of the fifth, the game was called off due to rain. The game was a nonconference game, making it unlikely that the two teams will meet up to finish it.
