Angevine, Ritchey Earn Conference Recognition

Dalton Ritchey gets a block from Court Knoblauch against Willamette.

Tayler Angevine and Dalton Ritchey earned Northwest Conference football honors after playing important roles in Pacific Lutheran's 41-27 victory over previously unbeaten and 19th-ranked Willamette.

Angevine (Kent, Wash. / Kentlake HS) received Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week recognition after providing the Lutes with a momentum-changing interception return for a touchdown. Angevine went 80 yards for the score, stopping a Willamette drive and increasing PLU's lead to 27-13 early in the third quarter. Angevine also had three solo tackles, including one for a four-yard loss.

The interception was the fifth of the season for the senior cornerback, tying him for first in the Northwest Conference.

Ritchey (Onalaska, Wash. / Onalaska HS) was named Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after running for three touchdowns and passing for another in leading PLU's offensive attack against the Bearcats. Ritchey scored on runs of 2, 5, and 3 yards and netted 65 yards on 14 carries, and passing the ball was 16-for-28 for 197 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Pacific Lutheran, 4-2 overall and 3-1 and in second place in the conference standings, returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it plays winless Puget Sound at Baker Stadium on the UPS campus.
