McFadden, Ritchey Pull Down NWC Weekly Football Honor

Junior safety Sean McFadden and sophomore quarterback Dalton Ritchey have earned Northwest Conference Football Defensive and Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week (SAOW) honors for their performances last Saturday in Pacific Lutheran's 38-21 win at Menlo.

McFadden (Honolulu, Hawaii / Punahou School), a junior safety, had 13 tackles, nine of which were unassisted, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery for the Lutes. McFadden is the second consecutive PLU defender to win the honor after Jordan Patterson (Lakewood, Wash. / Lakes HS) took the award for his performance against Whitworth. Previously this season, cornerbacks Tayler Angevine (Kent, Wash. / Kentlake HS) and Jonny Volland (Auburn, Wash. / Thomas Jefferson HS) earned NWC Football Defensive SAOW recognition.

Ritchey (Onalaska, Wash. / Onalaska HS) received Football Offensive SAOW for the second time this season after accounting for five touchdowns in PLU's victory. Ritchey rushed for a 2-yard score and hit four different receivers with scoring passes of 41, 1, 9 and 6 yards. Ritchey previously earned the award on Oct. 23 for his performance in PLU's win over Willamette.
