Lutes Tip-Off 2012-13 at Doug McArthur Classic

THIS WEEKEND: Pacific Lutheran will open up regular season play this Friday and Saturday at the Doug McArthur Classic held at the University of Puget Sound. The Lutes will take on two opponents, first on Friday against the University of Texas-Dallas at 6 p.m. then on Saturday against New Hope Christian College with tip-off at 5 p.m.

TIP-OFF TO 2012-13: Head coach Steve Dickerson and the men's basketball team will get an opportunity to test their metal against two non-conference opponents. It will also present an opportunity to see who could shape up the Lutes' starting five for when Northwest Conference play begins in early December.

An NCAA Division III member of the American Southwest Conference, UT-Dallas will present a several challenges for the Lutes this Friday. The Comets finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 22-5 including a 16-4 conference record, which included a semi-final finish in the ASC tournament. A key returner and one to watch for the Texas visitors is junior forward Kyle Schleigh, who as a sophomore last season registered a team leading 15.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

Saturday's matchup will feature the Deacons from New Hope Christian. The Deacons are representatives of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II.
