UNIVERSITY PLACE - With rainy and windy conditions at Chambers Bay wreaking havoc with Sunday's opening round scores at the PLU Invitational men's golf tournament, the host Lutes took a one-stroke lead over Puget Sound entering Monday's final 18 holes.
Led by a 74 from both Dustin Hegge and Auston Hilkin, the Lutes carded a 304, 16-over par on the 6,583-yard, par 72 Chambers Bay layout. Puget Sound's Adam Bean tied for the day's lowest score with a 73 to lead the Loggers to a 305.
Whitman, with Geoff Burks tying Bean for low score, is in third place with a 310. Rounding out the team scores were Whitworth with 313, George Fox and Willamette 326, PLU B and Linfield 327, Pacific 346, Trinity Lutheran 350 and Lewis & Clark 367.
Bean and Burks are tied for first, Hegge and Hilkin are tied with Whitworth's Oliver Rudnicki for third place, and tied for sixth place are Puget Sound's Matt Kitto, George Fox's Chris Lumsden and Pacific's Josh Mau, all shooting 75.
