Lutes Drop Two Matches in California
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran opened up its annual Spring Break trip to California by dropping a pair of non-conference men's tennis matches to Pomona-Pitzer and Westmont.
The Lutes faced Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona in the morning and dropped a 7-2 decision to the Stags, ranked No. 17 in Division III men's tennis. Michael Manser picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 3 singles over Frankie Allinson, ranked No. 30 in Division III West Region singles. Scott Sheldon was the other PLU winner, winning by a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) margin at No. 5 singles.
After driving to Santa Barbara, the Lutes ran into a tough Westmont College team and dropped a 9-0 decision.
The Lutes, 8-7 this season, return to action on Sunday when they take on the Occidental College Tigers in Los Angeles.
