PLU Netters Done After One Day at Ojai

OJAI, Calif. – Pacific Lutheran men’s tennis players Joel Trudel and Justin Peterson are done after the first day of the Ojai Tournament.

Trudel and Peterson, seeded No. 8 in the doubles competition, started on a strong note with an 8-5 victory over Grant Friedman and Max Sabel from Pomona-Pitzer. They were not able to get past the round of 16, however, dropping an 8-5 decision to Thomas Keiffer and Spencer MacColl from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Lutes duo finishes the season with a 17-9 season record.

Peterson won his opening singles match with an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over Cal Tech's Wesley Yu, but then fell to Redland's Cameron Spearman, 6-1, 6-4. Spearman is the No. 6 seed in this tournament. Peterson finished with a 14-12 singles record.

Trudel, who entered the tournament seeded No. 7 in singles, had a first round bye and then lost his round of 32 match to Cal Lutheran's John Karsant, 7-5, 6-2. He ended with a 13-9 mark.
