George Fox Blanks PLU Netters, 9-0

Noel Oteng-Mensah

NEWBERG, Ore. – Playing with only one of its top six players, Pacific Lutheran drew a blank against George Fox on Friday afternoon, losing a 9-0 Northwest Conference men's tennis match at the GFU campus court.

George Fox, which is No. 12 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division III West Region rankings, improved to 8-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference, which assures the team of a spot in the Northwest Conference postseason tournament.  PLU is now 6-8 overall and 4-5 in the standings.

Sam Angel and Neal Berg, who played No. 1 and No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, were the only Lutes playing on Friday who previously had played more than one match this year. Noel Oteng-Mensah and Zach Blakeslee had each played in one match, while Raymond DeLeon and Kyle McKee were playing for the first time this season.
