SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis squad closed out the 2018 season on Sunday afternoon, falling 7-2 to Northwest Conference rival Whitworth University.

"As we wrap up the season, I wish we could have send our seniors off on a good note. Still, we have lots to look forward to," said Head Coach Matt Look.

Niko Convento and Jake Kim rolled to an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, collected their seventh victory of the season. Convento went on to win 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, his 14th of the year.

Kim battled hard at the No. 3 singles position before ending on the wrong side of a, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2, decision. Seniors Chan Thourk and John Woelfel were unable to pull out victories in their final matches as Lutes, dropping decisions at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions.

"We saw improvement throughout the year and Niko returns to build on an incredible year. I enjoyed getting to know the team in my first year and I hope that we have laid a strong foundation for the program going into next year."

The Lutes end the season with a 6-11 record and a 2-6 mark in NWC play.
