TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes proved once again they are formidable in both competition and academics, as both the men's and women's cross country teams were recognized as Division III All-Academic Teams this week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The USTFCCCA All-Academic honor is only bestowed to teams who have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher, and competed at an NCAA Regional meet.
The PLU women maintained a 3.13 cumulative grade point average among the 16 members of the team to receive the USTFCCCA honor for the second time in three years while the men's team proved their academic prowess as the 20 Lute student-athletes maintained a 3.20 average GPA to earn All-Academic Team recognition.
The Lutes enjoyed a strong season competitively with the men placing runner-up at the Northwest Conference Championships and eighth at the NCAA Division III West Regional. Individually, Brad Hodkinson won the NWC individual title and the West Region title before earning All-Americans accolades at the NCAA Championships.
