Cuthill Earns NWC Student Athlete Recognition

Senior Kaely Cuthill was honored Tuesday by the Northwest Conference as the Softball Player Student-Athlete of the Week after working her magic at the plate in a series win against Willamette University.

Cuthill wowed the home fans this past weekend with her skills at the plate.  The senior from Susanville, Calif., hit her first collegiate home run in Saturday's second game victory, and then hit a grand slam in the first game win on Sunday.

Hitting in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, she compiled a .538 (7-for-13) average with seven runs scored, nine RBIs, two homers and one double.  She had a 1.077 slugging percentage during the weekend and a .600 on-base percentage.  Cuthill also had eight total field chances without an error, and made two diving catches in left field.

Cuthill was part of a Lutes arsenal that put up 27 runs on the board in four games en route to a three-games-to-one series win against the Bearcats.  The Lutes put up more runs against Willamette in each game last weekend than they had in the three previous against the Bearcats.
