Hagensen Named Third Team All-American

Stacey Hagensen, who led Pacific Lutheran to its first 30-win season since 2003, capped her outstanding season by earning All-America third team recognition as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Hagensen, named as a utility player, becomes the first PLU player to earn All-America recognition since Gretchen Ruecker and Mary Jo Marquardt both received NFCA Division III second team recognition in 2005.

The Lutes finished the 2011 season with a 31-13 overall record, and Hagensen played a key role in the team's success. She finished the campaign with a 21-6 pitching record and a 2.30 earned run average. Opponents hit just .221 against Hagensen, who threw 18 complete games and five shutouts. She was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year in helping the Lutes to a 22-6 league record, good for second place behind No. 1-ranked Linfield.

In addition to her pitching prowess, the junior out of Newport High School in Bellevue, Wash., hit .367 for the season with eight home runs and 39 runs batted in. She led the Lutes with 43 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.
