Women's Basketball Assistant Coach Announced
The newest member of the Pacific Lutheran women’s basketball team was announced last week. DeeDee Horton, who has nine years of collegiate coaching experience, was named assistant coach starting with the 2010-11 season.
Horton will join a staff that includes fourth-year head coach Kelly Robinson and fourth-year assistant coach Jamie Redd.
Horton, a 1993 graduate of Saint Martin’s College in Lacey, Wash., will take over her new role after six years as head coach at South Puget Sound Community College where she took her team to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) championship tournament three times. She was also voted Coach of the Year in 2007-08..
Prior to coaching at SPSCC, Horton was an assistant coach at Saint Martin’s College for three years.
PLU opens its 2010-11 season at Western Washington University on Nov. 10.
