TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team continued an athletic department tradition of giving back to the community by volunteering on April 21 at the Hoops for Hope fundraiser event at Franklin Pierce High School.
Eight Lute student athletes participated in the event, accumulating a total of 24 total hours of involvement in the fundraiser. While the 3-on-3 basketball games were underway, the student-athletes officiated the games, along with keeping score of the games.
"It was a blast to be a part of something that unites our passion for basketball with such a great cause that supports those battling cancer," said sophomore Emma Janousek.
This is the second consecutive year that the women's basketball team has participated in this event. The team was anxious to get back and donate their time again this year, as they really enjoyed helping out for a great cause that raises money for local cancer research.
