PLU Golfers Place Fifth at UCSC Invitational
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran carded rounds of 376 on Monday and 377 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 753 and a fifth-place finish at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational held at Pasatiemo Golf Club.
Julie Heffernan led the way for the Lutes with rounds of 90 and 92 for a total of 182. She was followed by Kristina Norlin's 95-93 - 188, Paige Henry's 89-101 - 190, and Karina Shelton's 102-91 - 193.
Cal State-East Bay won the team title with rounds of 321 and 336 for a total of 657. East Bay's Linda Brown was medalist with a 76-81 - 157, two strokes better than teammate Deanna Tyndall.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps placed second with a 675 (333-342), followed by Redlands 703 (349-354), UC Santa Cruz 749 (378-371), PLU 753 (376-377), and Texas Lutheran 763 (371-392). McMurry withdrew after an opening-round 393.
PLU returns to action this Saturday and Sunday when it plays in the NWC Spring Classic at Wildhorse Golf Course in Mission, Ore.
