Lutes in Sixth Place at Women's NWC Spring Classic

MISSION, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran is in sixth place after Saturday's windy and rainy first round of the Northwest Conference Spring Classic women's golf tournament being played at Wildhorse Golf Course.

George Fox is the first-day leader with a 312, but tournament host Whitman lurks close by with a 320. Rounding out the team scores are Whitworth 328, Linfield 331, Willamette 338, PLU 356, Pacific 385, Puget Sound 419, and Lewis & Clark incomplete.

Kelsey Morrison from George Fox fired a one-under-par 71 to lead the field by five strokes after the first round.

Senior Karina Shelton paced PLU with an 85, which currently ties her for 15th place. Rounding out the Lutes scoring are Kristina Norlin with an 88, Paige Henry 91, and Julie Heffernan 92.

The tournament concludes with another 18 holes on Sunday.
