TACOMA, Wash. - The NCAA Division III women's rowing selection committee unveiled the field for the 2017 NCAA Championships on Monday with the Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University varsity eight earning an invitation to the event held at Lake Mercer in New Jersey on May 26 and 27.
The Lutes will carry the torch for the Pacific Region as the lone West Coast boat invited to the Championships, making the cross country trek to Lake Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey. A total of eight boats will compete at the Championships with the Lutes, ranked fifth in the CRCA/USRowing Top 15 Poll, competing in lane four of Heat A. Also competing in Heat A will be Bates College (lane 3), defending national champion Wellesley College (lane 2), and Washington College (lane 5). Heat B consists of Williams College (Lane 3), Ithaca College (Lane 4), Wesleyan University (Lane 2), and Rochester Institute of Technology (Lane 5).
Nationals will get underway on Friday, May 26 with preliminary and repechage races with the grand finals and petite finals set for Saturday, May 27. PLU's first race will be at 8:36 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Friday.
