Marisa Gonzalez recorded a pair of shutouts last week to earn Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Gonzalez recorded six total saves as the Lutes blanked both Willamette and George Fox by 2-0 scores. She finished the season with eight shutouts and a 0.88 goals against average and helped the Lutes register their first winning season (6-5-7 record) since 2006.
"She's been a leader of our defense and has been a big reason why our program has turned it around in terms of being competitive," first-year PLU head coach Seth Spidahl said. "To have eight shutouts in a tough conference is exactly the type of impact we expected her to have as one of the key recruits."
