Newell Earns Conference Recognition

Frosh Leah Newell has been honored by the Northwest Conference for her play in 2011. The first-year player from Leavenworth, Wash., has received honorable mention recognition.

Newell went 7-10 in singles matches this season. Playing from the team's number one position all season, Newell faced the best singles players the conference had to offer week in and week out.

Newell teamed up with Tina Aarsvold to play as the Lutes' number one doubles team. They went 7-10 together in 2011.

This is the first year a PLU women's tennis player has been recognized by the NWC for their play since Erika Feltus earned first team recognition in 2008.
