2012 Women's Tennis Season Outlook

Pacific Lutheran enters the 2012 spring season with aspirations of improving from last year's last place conference finish. The Lutes went winless in conference last season and finished out the year posting a 2-15 overall mark.

This year, the Lute roster consists of eight new faces including seven true freshmen and only four returners. Junior Tina Aarsvold and Sophomore Leah Newell were the dominant doubles contingent from the 2011 campaign posting a 7-10 overall record including a 4-8 mark in conference. Newell also led the Lutes last season in the singles category with her 7-10 match record while playing No. 1 singles. Cora Wigen returns to the Lutes after studying abroad last spring and is expected to be one of the top singles and doubles players this season.

The extremely young Lute roster is expected to gain lots of valuable competition experience this season. Allison McClure was the only freshman to see her first collegiate action in a doubles victory along with Wigen this fall at the ITA regional tournament. The pair was knocked out shortly afterward in the second round by the eventual tournament champions.

McClure, along with fellow newcomers Catherine Miolla and Katherine Patton will look to make significant impacts in the top six positions for Pacific Lutheran this season.
