McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfield remained unbeaten and kept Pacific Lutheran winless in women's tennis with an 8-1 Northwest Conference victory on Friday.
The Wildcats, who won the NWC tournament and advanced to NCAA Division III postseason play last year, improved to 5-0 overall and to 4-0 in the conference. The Lutes lost for the fifth time this season, with three of those matches coming against NWC foes.
The Wildcats dropped only three games in the other two doubles matches, and they had similar success in singles play. Other than at No. 2 singles, where PLU's Cora Wigen pushed Lexi Thomas before losing 7-6 (5), 6-2, Linfield lost just nine games in five matches.
Pacific Lutheran seeks to end its winless streak on Saturday when it plays George Fox University. The Lutes' last conference win came back on April 1, 2010 against the Bruins.
