THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Playing their first match on their spring break trip to California after a Sunday afternoon rainout, Pacific Lutheran dropped an 8-1 women's tennis decision to Cal Lutheran at the Poulson Tennis Center on Monday.

The host Regals took an early 2-1 lead after doubles play. In a close battle at the No. 1 doubles spot, Leah Newell and Tina Aarsvold got the best of Holly Beaman and Carly Mouzes, earning the only PLU point of the day by a score of 9-7.

CLU's No. 2 duo of Jordan Leckness and Lindsay Murphy got things started with an 8-2 win over Cora Wigen and Valery Jorgensen. At No. 3 doubles, PLU's Allison McClure and Katherine Patton saw their five-match winning streak come to an end as they were topped by the team of Jacqueline Ramsay and Sarah Baker, 8-6.

Cal Lutheran won all six singles matches in straight sets, including Ramsay's 6-3, 6-1 win over Catherine Miolla that ended Miolla's team-best three-match singles win streak.

The Lutes, 0-10 this season, return to action at 2 p.m. tomorrow when they play Biola University in La Mirada, Calif.
