Willamette Keeps PLU Winless in NWC Women's Tennis

SALEM, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran saw its 2012 women's tennis season come to an end on Saturday with an 8-1 loss to Willamette at the Willamette tennis courts.

Allison McClure and Katherine Patton teamed up for an 8-5 doubles win over Emily Funabiki and Elise Derby for PLU's only point. The Lutes duo ended the season with eight wins and six losses, all playing at No. 3 doubles, and were the only PLU players to finish the campaign with a winning record in either singles or doubles.

For the second straight season the Lutes finished winless in 12 conference matches, and they ended up with a 1-17 overall record. The Bearcats, ranked No. 14 in the West Region of Division III women's tennis, are 7-8 overall and 5-6 in the conference with a Sunday match remaining on the schedule.
