PORTLAND, Ore. - Caroline Dreher tallied her second singles victory of the weekend on Sunday but it was not enough as the Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team fell 8-1 to 23rd-ranked Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference dual inside the Lewis & Clark Tennis Dome.
"It was another tough match today and though we didn't win on the scoreboard, the team rose to the challenge and competed well," said Head Coach Lorrie Wood. "Caroline Dreher shined this weekend as she settled into her game and won both of her matches at No. 1 singles against very tough opponents."
PLU's (0-6, 0-5 NWC) Dreher needed three sets to secure her second singles win of the weekend, collecting the, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9, victory over the Pioneers' (6-1, 6-1 NWC) Wiktoria Plawska at the No. 1 position. Megan Beyers stole the opening set, 6-2, at No. 4 but was unable to continue her momentum through the rest of the match, succumbing to Chloe Sermet by a, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, scoreline.
The Lutes open up a three-match homestand next Saturday, hosting George Fox University inside the Sprinker Recreation Center with matches set to begin at 1 p.m.
