TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team hosted its final home match of the Northwest Conference dual match season on Saturday, dropping a 9-0 decision to intrastate rival Whitworth University inside the Sprinker Recreation Center.

"The team played hard but Whitworth outplayed us today," said Head Coach Lorrie Wood. "However, we did have some epic battles, especially No. 2 singles. Emily Bower played an excellent match."

The Lutes' (1-8, 1-7 NWC) Emily Bower and Ingrid Ericksen battled hard at No. 3 doubles against the Pirates' (3-5, 3-3 NWC) Paige Rohrbach and Emily Sandquist, ultimately coming up short, 8-5.

In singles, Caroline Dreher fell, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 while Bower was edged, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5, at No. 2. Megan Beyers put up a fight at No. 3 singles, eventually stumbling, 6-4, 6-4.

Pacific Lutheran is back on the courts on Mar. 26, opening a three-match tour of southern California against Occidental College.

"We're looking forward to getting some outdoor practice time this week to prepare for our spring break matches in California next week."
