Lutes Take Another Step Up Top 25 Poll
Make it four straight weeks that Pacific Lutheran has moved up spot up the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Lutes, 14-5 overall and unbeaten in 10 Northwest Conference matches, earned 233 votes and are ranked No. 15 in the AVCA national poll released this morning. Since a No. 19 national ranking in the Sept. 22 poll, the Lutes have gone unbeaten and moved up one spot in each of the ensuing weekly polls.
PLU puts its 10-match winning streak on the line at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Olson Auditorium when it hosts the Puget Sound Loggers in a Northwest Conference match. The Loggers, 13-5 overall, enter the match ranked No. 21 in the nation and at 7-3 are currently tied with George Fox for second in the NWC.
Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound have already played each other three times this year, splitting non-conference matches in tournament play during the opening weekend of the season in early September, and the Lutes taking a three-set win over the host Loggers on Sept. 23.
After playing Puget Sound on Wednesday, the Lutes host the Linfield Wildcats in another conference match at 7 p.m. Saturday.
