Kevin Aoki, who has led Pacific Lutheran to Northwest Conference championships in 1999, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, has posted a 242-124 record in 14 years as head coach of his alma mater's volleyball program. Prior to the 2009 season, his .666 winning percentage ranks him 43rd on the current NCAA Division III coaching list in that category. Aoki has been named the conference Coach of the Year six times (1999, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009) and the AVCA West Region Coach of the Year three times (1999, 2004 and 2007).
The Hawai'i native came to the Pacific Lutheran volleyball program in the fall of 1996 with a wealth of high school coaching experience. He led the Bethel High School program for 12 seasons with nine of his teams qualifying for the state tournament.
Aoki, 49, received his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1984 from Pacific Lutheran University. While attending PLU, Aoki served as volunteer assistant coach of the women's volleyball program in 1983. He also played on the Lute men's club team. He earned his master's in Educational Technology from City University in 1995. In high school, Aoki attended Iolani School in Honolulu, where as a defensive specialist he helped his team to a second-place finish in the boys' prep state volleyball tournament.
A math teacher at Bethel Junior High School, Aoki also serves as ninth grade girls basketball coach. Aoki, his wife Bethany and their sons, Aiden and Brennan, live in Puyallup. Bethany is a 1999 PLU graduate.

Tim Templin will, for the 15th consecutive year, serve as the top assistant for PLU volleyball head coach Kevin Aoki.
Templin earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran in 1986 and his teaching certification and master's degree in Education from PLU in 1996. He is active in numerous volleyball camps and clinics throughout the state.
A teacher at Kalles Junior High School, Templin lives in Puyallup.
