Lute Women 13th at Region Cross Country Meet
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Pacific Lutheran had a solid performance, placing 13th out of 20 teams at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships held Saturday morning on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
Led by senior Katie Gebert in 37th place and junior Suzy Olsen in 41st, the Lutes scored 361 points to finish seventh out of the nine Northwest Conference teams to compete at the regional event. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title with 39 points, placing five runners in the top 11 and six in the top 13. Willamette from the Northwest Conference placed second with 131 points and Linfield was fifth with 160.
Gebert clocked 23:03.3 over the 6000-meter course, and Olsen was just behind her with a 23:11.1 time. Rounding out the PLU finishers were frosh Jennifer Arbaugh (90th, 24:38.0), Alyssa Rowland (96th, 24:43.9), Erica Johnson (97th, 24:44.2), Erinn Kuest (104th, 24:54.8), and Becca Ford (105th, 24:56.5).
