DenAdel Wins Central Washington Invitational Title
ELLENSBURG - Alan DenAdel placed first and Kolter Grigsby was third overall Friday afternoon in leading Pacific Lutheran to a third-place finish at the CWU Cross Country Invitational held at Ellensburg Rotary Park.
DenAdel, a junior from Bow, clocked 20:07 over the 6000-meter course, besting Western Washington's Zachary Bursell by 21 seconds. Grigsby, a senior, finished in 20:30.
Despite their strong performance, the Lutes didn't show enough depth to get close to Western Washington, which won with 32 points, and host Central Washington, which had 48. The Lutes were third with 73, followed by Green River CC with 76 and Highline CC with 134.
In the women's race, freshman Amanda Seely had her second consecutive team-best finish, placing seventh overall in 16:00 over 4000 meters. Two other PLU first-year runners, Lauren Knebel and Amanda Wilson, were ninth and 10th, respectively, Knebel clocking 16:30 and Wilson finishing in 16:36.
PLU was third in the women's race as well. Central finished with 32 points, followed by Western with 40, the Lutes with 54 and Green River with 107.
