NWC Cross Country Meet History

The PLU Meadows course is located on the south end of campus. The men's 8K course is three loops around the course while the women's 6k course is three loops.

Familiar Faces: Five men and seven women that earned All-Conference honors last fall will be toeing the line at the 2025 NWC Championships.

Leading the way on the men's side is Evan Markelz who placed fourth at the 2024 NWC Championships. George Fox's Caden Hildenbrand is the only other First Team All-Conference runner from a season ago, having finished sixth last fall. Earning Second Team honors was Whitman's Jack McManus (11th), Puget Sound's Cian Monaghan (12th), and Whitworth's London Haley. Also returning is the reigning NWC Rookie of the Year in Peyton Fisher who finished 29th overall.

On the women's side, 2024 NWC runner-up Breanna Schmitt of George Fox is the top returner while Lewis & Clark's Malia Heien is only other returning First Team All-Leaguer from a season ago, having finished fourth overall last fall. Five different student-athletes return that received Second Team honors including Pacific's Megan Fritz (eighth), Whitworth's Ashlyn Dary (10th) and Kezlie Thygesen (14th), George Fox's Hope Bridge (11th), and Willamette's Anna Bikle. In addition to earning Second Team All-League, Whitworth's Ashley Dary is the reigning NWC Rookie of the Year.

About the Bruins: The George Fox women enter the meet with a target on its back as the four-time defending champions while the men have similar expectations as the six-time reigning champions. The GFU men ran away with the league title, scoring 28 points with runner-up Whitworth finishing 46 points back. The Bruin women were equally as dominant, scoring 40 points and winning by a 36-point margin. Both teams were picked to win the league in the annual NWC Coaches' Preseason Poll released back in August.

About the Pioneers: The Lewis & Clark men finished fourth at the 2024 NWC Championships, scoring 108 points while the women also placed fourth with a score of 90 points. Both Pioneer squads are projected to have a similar finish this fall, both placing fourth in the NWC Preseason Coaches Poll.

About the Wildcats: The Linfield men finished ninth at the 2024 NWC meet, scoring 217 points and finishing 11 points shy of Pacific. The Wildcat women did not compile a team score at the 2024 Championships. This year, both squads were picked to finish ninth in the annual NWC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

About the Boxers: Pacific's men's and women's teams both finished eighth at the 2024 NWC Championships. The men tallied 206 points, finishing 14 points short of seventh place PLU while the women accumulated 172 points and were four points short of the seventh place Lutes. This August, both programs were picked to finish seventh in the annual NWC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

All-Conference Returners: Megan Feitz (8th). 2024 NWC Rookie of the Year Peyton Fisher.

About the Lutes: The PLU men and women both finished seventh at the 2024 NWC Championships. The men's squad scored 192 points, finishing eight points short of sixth place Willamette and 14-points clear of eighth place Pacific. The women's team tallied 168 points and was four points ahead of Pacific and 25-points shy of Whitman.

All-Conference Returners: None.

Back to Campus: This marks the third time the NWC Championships will be held on campus at PLU and the first time since the 2015 Championships. The Lutes also served as hosts for the 2006 conference meet.

About the Loggers: The Puget Sound men and women both placed fifth at the 2024 NWC Championships. The Logger men scored 121 points, finishing 13 points shy of Lewis & Clark while enjoying a comfortable 63-point gap on Willamette. The UPS women scored 141 points, edging Whitman by just two points and finishing 51 points behind Lewis & Clark.

About the Blues: The Whitman men placed third and the Whitman women finished sixth at the 2024 NWC Championships. The men's squad scored 90 points, finishing 16 points shy of runner-up Whitworth and 18 points ahead of Lewis & Clark. The women's team scored 143 points, coming two points shy of Puget Sound and enjoying a 25-point gap on PLU.

About the Pirates: The Whitworth men finished second and the women third at the 2024 NWC Championships. The Pirate men tallied a team score of 74, finishing 46-points behind champion George Fox while owning a 16-point gap on third place Whitman. Whitworth women scored 79 points, finishing three shy of runner-up Willamette and owning a 11-point edge on Lewis & Clark.

About the Bearcats: The Willamette women finished runner-up and the men placed sixth at the 2024 NWC Championships. The Bearcat women compiled a team score of 76, edging third place Whitworth by three points but falling 36 points shy of Champion George Fox. The Willamette men scored 184 points, finishing 63 points back of Puget Sound and eight above PLU.
