For the second time this fall, Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer student-athlete
Alex White is the Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week. White secures the honor on Oct. 4 after spearheading a defensive unit that has yet to allow a goal through the opening six games of NWC play.
On Saturday, the junior from Henderson, Nevada limited host Linfield University to just four total shots and only one on goal in a 3-0 victory. White additionally earned an assist on
Archie Caldwell's game-winner in the 38th minute.
On Sunday, White helped the Lutes (9-2, 6-0 NWC) contain second-place Willamette University, holding the Bearcats to just four shots on goal in a 1-0 win to gain additional space atop the league standings.
White and the Lutes have now gone 572 minutes without allowing a goal, including shutouts in six NWC contests. It's the first time PLU has recorded six shutouts in a row since the 1987 season and the first time the program has done so while a member of NCAA Division III.
White was previously named the NWC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20 while goalkeeper
Nicholas Gaston earned the honor on Sept. 27.
