Pacific Lutheran University Athletics

The Northwest Conference office released its weekly award winners on Sept. 19 with Pacific Lutheran University's Sarah Paquet earning NWC Cross Country Runner of the Week accolades. 
 
Paquet nabs the spotlight after crushing the field on Saturday at the PLU Invitational. The senior from Olympia, Washington navigated the 6,000-meter course in personal best time of 21 minutes, 35 seconds. Paquet's performance left the rest of the competitors in the 91-runner field in the dust, winning the race by a comfortable 32.5-second margin. 
 
The senior's victory came at a meet that featured six of the NWC's nine teams, including 22nd-ranked George Fox University.
 
The host Lutes finished third at the meet thanks to Paquet's efforts, scoring 88 points to defeat league rivals Whitworth University, Whitman College, and the University of Puget Sound.
