Winning a collegiate tournament for the first time in her career has earned Pacific Lutheran University women's golf student-athlete Sami Briney the Northwest Conference Golfer of the Week Award on Oct. 1. 
 
Briney lands the accolade after winning the UPS Invitational on Sunday by four strokes. The junior from Clarkston, Washington carded a 150 for the two-day event, shooting a 74 during round one on Saturday before shooting a 76 during Sunday's final round to secure the victory. 
 
Briney's efforts helped the Lutes finish fourth overall, shooting a two-day tally of 663 (328-335) and holding a 46-stroke lead on NWC rival and fifth place Pacific University.
