The Northwest Conference office announced its weekly award winners on Monday with Pacific Lutheran University volleyball student-athlete Caylie Shiramizu landing NWC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after a strong performance in a pair of Lute victories. 

Shiramizu finished the weekend with 44 digs, averaging 6.3 per set in a pair victories inside Olson Gymnasium. The senior from Honolulu, Hawaii led the 14th-ranked Lutes (14-2, 7-1 NWC) with 29 digs in a 3-1 win over George Fox University on Friday while pacing the squad with 15 in a 3-0 win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday. Shiramizu additionally had three service aces and five assists in the wins to keep PLu undefeated at home in 2018.
