NEWBERG, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran added victory number 35 to its
Northwest Conference volleyball win streak on Saturday night with a
25-17, 30-28, 25-14 victory over the host George Fox Bruins.
Senior setter Sarah Beaver registered 35 assists, nine digs and
four kills as the Lutes improved their 2010 overall record to 12-3
and their conference mark to 6-0. PLU hasn't lost in Northwest
Conference play since the third match of 2008 season.
All-America outside hitter Beth Hanna recorded 13 kills, outside
hitter Kelsie Moore added nine, and middle blockers Missy DeWalt
and Bethany Huston had seven and six, respectively, as the Lutes
hit .271 against the Bruins. DeWalt and Moore both had only
one error, DeWalt finishing with a .462 attack percentage and Moore
coming in at .364.
PLU was also tough at the net with 8.0 team blocks, all coming
on block assists, including four by middle blocker Erin Bremond and
three each by Hanna, DeWalt and Huston. Libero Blair Bjorkman led
the Lutes with 18 digs and Moore added 11 to the team total of
62.
Pacific Lutheran returns to Northwest Conference action at 7
p.m. next Wednesday, Oct. 6, when it travels across town to face
the Puget Sound Loggers.
