OLYMPIA - All but two of the team's 14 players that saw
action had at least one kill as Pacific Lutheran opened the 2010
volleyball season Wednesday night with a three-set non-conference
win over Evergreen State.
Led by Kelsie Moore's eight kills, the Lutes rolled to a 25-13,
25-18, 26-24 victory over the host Geoducks. Blair Bjorkman
recorded a match-high 13 digs and Sarah Beaver led with 20 assists.
Erin Bremond was credited with four solo blocks for the Lutes, who
came into the season ranked No. 17 in the American Volleyball
Coaches Association Top 25 preseason poll.
The Lutes hit .300 as a team, including .333 in the first set
and .355 in the final set. Evergreen finished with a negative .045
attack percentage.
PLU returns to action this weekend with four matches at the
Whitman College Tournament in Walla Walla. The Lutes will play
twice on both Friday and Saturday.
