Lutes fall to Div. I Redhawks 66-38 at Key Arena

SEATTLE – Seattle University limited Pacific Lutheran to 23.4 percent shooting as the NCAA Div. I Redhawks defeated the Lutes 66-38 Sunday afternoon in a nonconference men's basketball game at Key Arena.

Pacific Lutheran falls to 3-4 overall while Seattle improves to 7-3 this season. The Lutes head to California next weekend to take on Occidental on Dec. 21 and Chapman on Dec. 22.

Brandon Lester and Terrell Williams tied for the game-high point total with 10 apiece as 16 Lutes saw time on the Key Arena Court. Seattle's Isiah Umipig and Emerson Murray also each scored 10 points as the Redhawks shot 43.8 percent in the win.

A pair of Lester free throws put the Lutes on the board in the second minute of play with a brief 2-0 lead. Umipig responded with a three-pointer for Seattle, but Lester dropped a trey of his own to put PLU back up 5-3. The Redhawks tied it up with a couple free throws that sparked a 12-point SU run, and they hardly looked back as they jumped ahead by as many as 24 points in the first half. They took a 37-21 lead into halftime and outscored PLU 29-17 in the second half.
