PARKLAND - Pacific Lutheran University Men's Soccer hosted Linfield Sunday afternoon for the Lutes' senior day. The Lutes had a blowout, defeating the Linfield 3-0. With this win under their belt, the Lutes move to an 8-9 overall record with a 5-6 Northwest Conference record.
To kick off senior day, the Lutes honored their four seniors, Justin Manao, Bryce Archambeault, Kevin Wien and Drew Sadowsky. The four seniors also started in the game.
PLU dominated Linfield taking the first goal in the 6th minute with a goal by Eddie Na off of a head deflection from Joel Frykholm. Na has scored six goals for the Lutes this season. Na's goal put the Lutes ahead and won them the game.
The Lutes continued to take control of the game and in the 40th minute of play Senior Bryce Archambeault scored a goal off of a corner kick from Diego Aceves. Archambeault made his first goal of the season for his senior day game. Archambeault's goal put the Lutes ahead 2-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, Rigoberto Loreto made the final goal for the Lutes off of a touch by Nate Popp and Archambeault from about six yards out. Loreto's goal put the Lutes up 3-0 in the 52nd minute and gave Loreto his fourth goal of the season.
PLU keeper Mike Arguello played 75 minutes giving away no goals and making one save. Kyle Vanderwaal guarded the PLU goal for the final 15 minutes of play, allowing no goals.
Linfield's Grant Loriaux played 35 minutes making three saved and allowed one goal. The final 56 minutes of play were taken by Wildcat keeper Jack O'Keefe who allowed two goals and made two saves. The Lutes outshot Linfield 16-7.
Men's Soccer will be away for the rest of the season. Next weekend they will take on Pacific and George Fox in Oregon.
