Lute Volleyball completes sweep over Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 16 Pacific Lutheran volleyball completed the sweep of Lewis & Clark on Friday night with set scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-21. With the win, PLU advances to 11-3 overall, 4-1 in Northwest Conference play. The Pioneers are 8-7 overall, 2-4 in conference play

Kylai Cooley and Lucy Capron combined to lead the Lutes offense with 19 total kills. Setter Samantha North contributed 33 assists while libero Amber Aguiar tallied 22 digs with Taylor Komagome adding 16.

For the Pios, Kataleya Milan led with 16 kills and a .224 hitting percentage, Emily Drake had 17 assists while Alexe Navarro added 22 digs.

In the first set, the Lutes scored 10 of the first 14 points on their way to the 25-18 set victory. The Lutes took the early lead in the second set as well with the Pios rallying back to pull within two points with score at 19-17, but PLU would go on to score six of the final nine points to collect the second set 25-20 win.

With the score at 18-13 in the third set, Lewis & Clark posted a five-point rally to tie things at 18 apiece, but the Lutes collected seven of the final 10 points to take the set win 25-21 and complete the sweep.

Pacific Lutheran is set to continue competition on Saturday when they face the Pacific Boxers in a 7 p.m. matchup.
