FOREST GROVE, Ore. - For the second time this season, the Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team took down Pacific with a 3-0 road win Saturday afternoon. PLU now stands with a 6-6 conference record and a 9-9 overall record
The Lutes almost went into the half scoreless, both teams were at 0-0 in the 34th minute. With ten minutes left in the first half, the Lutes managed to make back-to-back goals before halftime. Rigoberto Loreto made the first goal in the 35th minute of play. This goal was Loreto's fifth of the season.
Five minutes later, first-year Bennett Bugbee was able to score another goal for the Lutes off of a corner kick by Diego Aceves. Bugbee has made three goals for the Lutes this season.
The score remained the same until the 90th minute of play when Eddie Na made a goal off of a pass from Drew Sadowsky. This goal brought the Lutes up 3-0 in the final minute of play. Na's goal was his seventh of the season, which puts him in a tie with Jordan Downing for leading goal scorer on the team.
PLU's Mike Arguello made one save in his 90 minutes of play and ended with a perfect game. Pacific's keeper Keyton Thommasen played all 90 minutes as well, making five saves and allowing three goals. The Lutes outshot the Boxers 19-5.
The Lutes will continue their weekend in Oregon tomorrow at 1:30 with a game against George Fox.
