TACOMA - Pacific Lutheran University Men's Soccer closed out their season with a close 2-1 loss to across-town rival University of Puget Sound. This final loss gives the Lutes a 7-7 conference record and a 10-10 overall record to finish the season.
The Loggers scored the first goal in the 19th minute. Andrew White assisted by Sam Zisette and Josh Sonico scored the goal from less than 18 yards away. White's goal gave UPS a 1-0 lead for the first half and into halftime.
The Lutes came out stronger in the second half. Ten minutes into the second half, Bryan Anderson scored a goal to tie up the game. Eddie Na took the first shot on goal but UPS keeper Nathan King was able to deflect it. Na's attempt set up Anderson to fire a shot past King to tie the score 1-1. Anderson has scored two goals for the Lutes this season.
Ten minutes later, the tie was broken when the Lutes scored on their own goal. UPS gained a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute and maintained it to get a victory over the Lutes. With this win, the Loggers walk away with a 10-3-1 conference record.
PLU keeper Mike Arguello played all 90 minutes and made three saves. UPS keeper King also played all 90 minutes and made five saves. The Lutes outshot the Loggers in the first half 6-4 but the Loggers outshot the Lutes overall having made 11 total shots to PLU's nine.
