PLU volleyball completes sweep of George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. – Thirteenth-ranked Pacific Lutheran volleyball defeated George Fox 3-0 on Friday with set scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-20. With the win, the Lutes advance to a 10-2 overall record, 3-0 in Northwest Conference play. PLU limited the Bruins to a .053 attack percentage in comparison to the Lutes' .241 clip.

Senior Amy Wooten made her return to the court for her first start of season, having been sidelined previously as she recovered from knee surgery. Wooten finished with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Lucy Capron led with 12 kills while Samantha North guided the Lutes offense with 41 assists. Libero Amber Aguiar had 17 digs while Kylai Cooley added 10.

In the first set, PLU accounted for 21 of the first 32 points on its way to the 25-15 victory. The second set saw similar results with the Lutes jumping out to a 19-11 lead and scoring six of the last seven points to secure the 25-13 set victory.

The third set proved to be more tightly contested, featuring eight tie scores. With match-point advantage in PLU's favor, the Bruins scored three-straight to push a 20-24 score, eventually falling to the Lutes 20-25.

Pacific Lutheran continues play on Saturday as the Lutes travel to Linfield (3-5, 2-1 NWC) to matchup with the Wildcats. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
