TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University football team closes out its home slate at Sparks Stadium on Saturday, hosting George Fox University at 1 p.m.Â
Â
Coming off last week's battle in Oregon against 24
th-ranked Linfield College, the Lutes (3-4, 2-3 Northwest Conference) are looking to send off the senior class with a strong performance and continuing their perfect home record.Â
Â
Senior offensive linemen
Adam McShane,
Nate Jarvis, and
Zach Willis reflected on their time as PLU student-athletes, their favorite memories and what they will miss most about wearing the black and gold. Â
Â
"My favorite memory is my whole career, the guys were so accepting of me being a transfer and welcomed me into the family," said
Adam McShane.
Â
"The guys, 100% are what I will miss most. Early morning lifts are so much fun. Just hanging out with your friends everyday on the field."Â
Â
"My favorite memory is Thursday night dinners with the offensive linemen. It's a time to vent or hangout and just have fun," said
Nate Jarvis.Â
Â
"The connections and friendships I've made are what I will miss most. That's what this program is built on."
Â
"My favorite memories on the team are random. TCM's – treasure chest memories, we turn the littlest things and turn it into something fun. We would sit in the lounge and make food and sing; just the small things are the best because we are with each other. I'll also miss offensive line dinners, just a chance to unwind and hangout with the guys," said
Zach Willis.Â
Â
"What I will miss most is the comradery and being out there on Saturdays. There is no feeling like playing football with your closest buddies. Nothing compares to playing it here at PLU. Its special here, it's not about your stats or anyone else's stats just about the collective team doing our best."
Â
The Lutes' recognize these seniors and the rest of the senior class at Sparks Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m. prior to their faceoff with the Bruins.
Â
Nov. 3: PLU vs. George Fox (Homecoming & Senior Day) in Puyallup, Wash. (1 p.m.)
Â
Series History:Â It's a rivalry that's in its infancy with PLU owning a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series since George Fox started its program in 2014. Last season the Lute defense came up big with a pair of fourth quarter interceptions to knock off the 21st-ranked Bruins 13-3 in Newberg.
Â
About the Bruins: George Fox (4-4, 2-3 NWC) was blanked 14-0 two weeks ago at home against Linfield before having the shoe on the other foot the following week, shutting out Lewis & Clark College 17-0 last Saturday.
Â
In the win over Lewis & Clark, the Bruins kept the ball on the ground, racking up 234 rushing yards while completing just eight passes for 31 yards. Garcia Anthony galloped for 129 yards on just 16 carries with one touchdown while quarterback Jaden Sheffey scampered for 53 yards and a touchdown.
