Box Score

Written by Student Assistant Christian Bond

TACOMA, Wash. – Three members of the Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team scored more than 20 points, but it wasn't enough to best Northwest Conference rival George Fox University on Friday night in Olson Gymnasium with the Bruins coming out on top of the Lutes, 112-87.

PLU (4-15, 1-10 NWC) did a nice job of attacking the basket. The Lutes earned 42 trips to the foul line, making 35 of those attempts (83.3 percent). As whole, the Lutes were effected on offense. They finished the game with a 45.3 field goal percentage, hitting 24 of their 53 attempts but was unable to match the volume of George Fox (6-14, 2-9 NWC) as the Bruins took 85 shots, including canning 19 three-pointers.

Leighton Kingma, Zac Webb, and Kelton Williams combined for 63 points. Kingma had a double-double, leading the Lutes with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore went nine-for-10 from the free-throw line. Williams did damage from the charity stripe as well, knocking down 12 free-throws on his way to scoring 20 points for the Lutes. Williams pulled down two rebounds while dishing out six assists.

Webb was very efficient, going nine-for-13 from the field. The Enumclaw, Washington native added five rebounds and two steals to his totals. Jack Adams III had a nice night for the Lutes. He scored a career-high 11 points, converting on all three of his three-point tries.

"Like a few other teams in our league, their defense presents opportunities to attack the basket and guys like Leighton and Zac certainly take advantage," said Head Coach Chad Murray. "Kelton, as he has done lately, did a nice job of getting in the paint. We were able to get to the line a bunch and also took advantage."

The Lutes return to the court on Saturday, when Linfield College pays a visit to Olson Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
