Volleyball Smashes Wildcats, 3-0

TACOMA, Wash. - The 10th-ranked Pacific Lutheran University volleyball team made quick work of Northwest Conference rival Linfield College on Saturday afternoon, rolling to the 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16) to finish the weekend undefeated inside Olson Gymnasium.

"It was a great overall team win as we got to see everyone get a chance to play," said Head Coach Kevin Aoki.

The homestanding Lutes (9-1, 2-0 NWC) tallied 10 of the first 13 points in the opening set but the Wildcats clawed back to take a 12-11 lead. The set remained tight until the Lutes collected the final four points, including two kills from Chloe Epker to seal the 25-19 set win.

Pacific Lutheran led wire-to-wire in the final two sets of the evening, breezing to 25-15 and 25-16 wins to secure the match victory.

Epker paced the Lutes with eight kills while Isabella Zubrod supplied seven along with a team-high 17 assists. Caylie Shiramizu netted 17 digs while Epker claimed 12 for her second double-double of the weekend.

The Lutes close out their homestand on Wednesday night, welcoming crosstown rival University of Puget Sound to Olson Gymnasium in the first Battle of the South Sound match of 2018.
