SEATTLE – The Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team kicked off the 2019-20 season with an exhibition game at NCAA Division I Seattle U on Tuesday night. The Lutes were only outscored by 10 points, 51-41 in the second half, and fell 98-64 for the contest.
PLU shot nearly shot 40 percent from the field in the second half and canned three-pointers at an impressive 35 percent for the game. The Lutes also guarded Seattle U tough on the perimeter, holding the Redhawks to just 8-for-28 shooting from long range.
Senior
Leighton Kingma led the way offensively for PLU with 10 points, while
Jordan Thomas was active on the glass with five rebounds.
Kelton Williams chipped in seven and hustled to grabbed three rebounds.
Thirteen Lutes scored in the game, while all 17 players on the roster got into the game. Kingma, Thomas, Williams,
Conor Geiger and
Jacob Bingham started the game for PLU and all played about 20 minutes.
The Lutes open the 2019-20 regular season on Friday when they take on Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) at 5:00 p.m. in Santa Cruz, Calif.
