TACOMA, Wash. - Justin deMattos was perfect in his final matches in a Lute uniform on Saturday, powering the Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis squad to an 8-1 thrashing of crosstown rival University of Puget Sound to wrap up the 2018-2019 season.

Hampus Pers Eliasson dispatched the Loggers' (0-14, 0-8 Northwest Conference) No. 2 tandem of Graham Byron and Lowell Hutton by an 8-0 scoreline before deMattos breezed to a, 6-0, 6-0, victory at No. 2 singles.
The Lutes' (5-11, 2-6 NWC) No. 1 doubles squad of
Michael Campbell and
Marcus Lee gutted out an 8-5 win while

Jake Kim claimed an 8-1 win at No. 3.
Campbell claimed a, 6-4, 6-3, win at No. 1 singles while Lee etched out a, 6-3, 6-2, victory at No. 3. Pers Eliasson came away with a, 6-4, 6-2, win at No. 4 while Kim earned the, 6-4, 6-0, win at No. 5.
"It was great to finish our season the same way we started the year with a nice 8-1 team win," said Head Coach
John Campbell. "After sweeping doubles our lone senior
Justin deMattos started us off with a great 6-0, 6-0, win and the rest of the team followed his lead. Justin has been an amazing student-athlete and team captain for us. He leads us all in academics as one of the top scholars on campus. He's a four-year letterman and I can't appreciate enough the amount of effort he puts out in all that he does."
